Noch wird es etwa vier Wochen dauern, bis die ersten Everest-Expeditionen dort ihre Zelte aufschlagen.</tt></kbd></font></p> <p><font size="3" color="#f5fca3" face="serif"><kbd><tt>Bald passieren wir das einstige Basislager des Erstbesteigers Edmund Hillary. Dann wird die Strecke immer schlechter, riesige, teilweise vereiste Geröllmassen, müssen überwunden werden. Dazu wird der Schneefall dichter, es macht keinen Spaß mehr. Die Sicht nimmt noch mehr ab, der Khumbu-Eisfall ist nur noch schemenhaft erkennbar.</tt></kbd></font></p> <p><font size="3" color="#f5fca3" face="serif"><kbd><tt>Nach drei Stunden, kurz vor dem Ziel, beschließen wir im Interesse unserer Sicherheit, umzukehren. Plötzlich kamen uns zwei vermummte Gestalten, ein Italiener und ein Südkoreaner, entgegen, sie waren früher gestartet, hatten deshalb die Strecke geschafft und waren froh, uns getroffen zu haben. Allein, ohne Guide, hätte auch ich sicherlich Probleme beim Finden des richtigen Weges gehabt.</tt></kbd></font></p> <p><font size="3" color="#f5fca3" face="serif"><kbd><tt>Ziemlich fertig und vom Schnee völlig bedeckt erreichen wir bei stürmischen Wind um    16.30 Uhr die Lodge.</tt></kbd></font></p> <p><font size="3" color="#f5fca3" face="serif"><kbd><tt>Nach dem Dinner liege ich bereits um 21 Uhr todmüde in meinem Schlafsack.
